Dying Light developer Techland has recently filed for a new trademark under the name Dying Light: The Beast, suggesting that some sort of new content could be in the works. Details on what the new Dying Light content could be are sparse, but gamers are speculating that Dying Light 2‘s second DLC is finally on the horizon with a fan-favorite character set to return.

Ever since its launch in February 2022, Dying Light 2 has received a steady stream of content and new DLC expansions for players to dive into. Its first DLC, known as Bloody Ties, was released in November 2022 and included a new story for players to unravel, as well as new weapons, locations, and more. One of the most recent pieces of new content to be released was Dying Light 2‘s horrifying Nightmare mode, which added a brand-new difficulty setting that takes things to a whole other level.

Dead Island 2 Confirms Big Update Coming in October

Dead Island 2 developer Dambuster Studios confirms a big new update for the popular action-adventure game arrives in October.

Back in 2023, Techland delayed Dying Light 2‘s second DLC expansion to 2024, but a new trademark could have just revealed the title of the highly anticipated add-on. As spotted by Twitter user Kurakasis, Techland has filed for a new trademark known as Dying Light: The Beast. Although merely speculation, fans of the franchise believe this could be in relation to Dying Light 2‘s second DLC, which could feature Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the original Dying Light. Over on Reddit, user BlackNyarlathotep says that previous leaks indicate this new trademark is indeed for the game’s second DLC. Others agree, with user Robsonmonkey speculating that The Beast is an indication of what Crane may have turned into at the end of Dying Light: The Following.

Dying Light Trademark Sparks DLC 2 Speculation

Given that Techland has already discussed Dying Light 2‘s future plans and confirmed it would support the game with new content for five years post-launch, the new trademark filing won’t come as much of a surprise to many. But as fans patiently wait for the release of the second DLC, speculation is starting to ramp up.

Given the title of the trademark and Techland’s plans to release a second Dying Light 2 DLC in 2024, it wouldn’t be surprising to see one of Dying Light‘s biggest mysteries finally solved with the return of Kyle Crane. But as Dying Light has become a smash-hit franchise for Techland, it also wouldn’t be much of a shock to see the trademark be for something completely unrelated to Dying Light 2‘s second DLC. As the year is drawing to a close, fans should hopefully find out more in the coming months.
