An Elden Ring player has created an electrified build inspired by Genichiro Ashina, a boss from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The general is the very first boss that players will stumble upon in the game, but he is also one of the hardest, as it is a scripted encounter designed for players to lose. However, with some skill and perseverance, it is possible to defeat Genichiro at the beginning of Sekiro, though there isn’t any trophy tied to this momentous achievement.

Sekiro is unique in that it is a Soulslike game without the usual stats such as strength and dexterity, as well as additional weapons that players have come to expect in FromSoftware titles. Instead, players have a katana that they acquire at the beginning of the game, and with various skills called Arts, they must rely on just these throughout the journey to rescue the Divine Heir. However, in Elden Ring, players have free reign to invest in stats while mixing and matching armor and weapons to create opportunities to make their adventure throughout the enemy-packed Lands Between easier. But though players have access to a wide variety of weapons and armor to create some of the most overpowered builds in Elden Ring, sometimes they would prefer to roleplay to make their time in the game more interesting.

Elden Ring Player Defeats Fire Giant With ‘Squidward Build’

One Elden Ring player takes on the game’s Fire Giant with a more musical approach as they decide to play through the game as Squidward.

This was the case for one Reddit user going by the handle jengoz, who showcased a build that was inspired by Genichiro, the Way of Tomoe form, which utilizes lightning during the second phase of the boss fight. The video shows the player dressed in the Land of the Reeds armor with the Iron Kasa helmet posing in front of a Minor Erdtree while pulsating with red lightning courtesy of Vyke’s Dragonbolt. Additionally, the player is wielding the Dragonscale Blade in one hand, which has a unique ability that coats the weapon with ice lightning, giving it a white appearance, while in the other is the Uchigatana katana buffed with either lightning grease or a similar Ash of War, which provides the blade with its golden look.

According to jengoz, in order to replicate this feat, first the player must cast Vyke’s Dragonbolt before swapping to and two handing the Dragonscale Blade to activate its special ability, then switching back to power stancing and finally using a lightning grease or electric Ash of War. The Genichiro-inspired build was a hit in the Elden Ring subreddit, as users complimented jengoz’s creativity, while one dubbed the look “the Christmas tree build” for its colorful appearance.

The Elden Ring community is a talented one and has been creating some fantastic builds in the game. While there is no release date as of yet, players will get the chance to return to the Lands Between to experiment with more looks when the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is released.
