An Elden Ring player pointed out the importance of fighting Starscourge Radahn and how beating him is not as optional as players may think. Not only is Starscourge Radahn a mandatory boss to access Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, but defeating him unlocks a lot of in-game content.

Elden Ring introduced Starscourge Radahn as an optional Legend Boss located in Redmane Castle in Caelid, meaning that avoiding his fight did not impact the progression of the main campaign. However, when the game’s DLC was released, defeating the bosses Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood became prerequisites to play the expansion. Even though Starscourge Radahn is not generally ranked among Elden Ring‘s hardest bosses, he is still a demigod and a tough opponent. Millions of players have now defeated Radahn, but some may not realize just how much content his loss unlocked.

One player joked that developer FromSoftware must really want Starscourge Radahn dead if defeating him hands out so many important rewards. The endings that Starscourge Radahn unlocks are “Age of Stars” and “Age of Duskborn”, since both need the Tarnished to begin Elden Ring‘s Radahn Festival questline.
