Epic Games Store Changes Free Game for June 20

The Epic Games Store free game for June 20 is no longer LEGO Builder’s Journey as was previously announced, but will instead be Freshly Frosted, alongside content for the free-to-play game Rumble Club. The Epic Games Store updates its free game selection every Thursday at 10:00am CT. At that time, it not only gives away a fresh batch of free games, but it also tells fans what they can expect from the free game giveaways the following week.

When Epic Games Store users hopped on to claim Redout 2 and $100 worth of content for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, which are up for grabs until June 20 at 10:00am CT, they were told that the free game for June 20 would be LEGO Builder’s Journey. For the uninitiated, LEGO Builder’s Journey is an award-winning puzzle game that earned a great deal of praise for its clever challenges. Unfortunately for fans looking forward to grabbing LEGO Builder’s Journey for free, the Epic Games Store has changed its offering, swapping out that game for a completely different kind of puzzler.

Instead of LEGO Builder’s Journey, the Epic Games Store is going to give away Freshly Frosted for free from June 20 to June 27. Originally released in 2022, Freshly Frosted is a critically-acclaimed puzzle game about laying out conveyor belts to correctly frost and decorate donuts. While it may not have the most exciting premise, Freshly Frosted earned a great deal of praise for its vibrant art, soothing music, and challenging puzzles. The game is in fact one of the highest-rated games of 2022, and so while it’s disappointing that LEGO Builder’s Journey will no longer be free through the Epic Games Store, Freshly Frosted should be an adequate replacement.

Freshly Frosted isn’t the only freebie that Epic Games Store users can look forward to now that the June 20 – June 27 lineup has been changed. In the same time frame, they can claim an Epic Games Store Exclusive We Gamin’ emote, 1,000 Gold, and 200 Gems for Rumble Club, an online multiplayer physics-based party/battle game.

As for why LEGO Builder’s Journey is no longer the Epic Games Store free game for June 20, that remains to be seen. However, this is not the first time that the Epic Games Store has changed its free game plans. Earlier this year, Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics were all supposed to be free on the Epic Games Store, but were ultimately swapped out. It’s been promised that these classic Fallout games will be free on the Epic Games Store at some point later this year, but it’s unclear if the same applies to LEGO Builder’s Journey.
