The Game Awards returns for its 10th year in a row, and if it follows the same pattern that its last few predecessors have, then this could end up being the biggest and best Game Awards ceremony yet. Every year, The Game Awards gets a little classier, a little more refined, and a lot more exciting, and for The Game Awards’ 10th anniversary, it seems almost guaranteed that Geoff Keighley will be pulling out all the stops to make sure this show goes down in gaming history, and that could include some big special guest appearances.

The game industry has had a bit of a mixed history with celebrity guest stars, with it often being the case back in the day that a Hollywood star would show up out of the blue and take to the stage to announce some game they’ve never heard of or deliver a hurried speech they’re reading for the first time at that moment. In the past, The Game Awards has been a hotbed for that, but while these celebrity cameos have usually been pretty awkward, The Game Awards has done a good job in recent years of balancing star power with industry icons and people who clearly have a deep, genuine passion for the industry they work in. The Game Awards 2023 seems to continue that trend, with a handful of great special guests already confirmed for the event.

The Game Awards 2023 is bringing out the big guns with its special guest appearances, with a total of 10 guests already confirmed for Thursday’s ceremony. Of course, the most unsurprising name on this list for long-time Game Awards viewers is Sydnee Goodman, with her lending her hosting talents to The Game Awards since 2019. Sydnee will host the first half-hour of The Game Awards once again, which is usually dedicated to getting fans settled in and excited, along with handing out a handful of awards and showing a few smaller video game reveals and announcements.

A total of four special guest presenters have also been announced for The Game Awards 2023. Caroline Marchal, the founder of the As Dusk Falls studio Interior Night and the winner of last year’s Games for Impact award, is presenting an award at this year’s ceremony. Respawn’s Vince Zampella will also be presenting an award, as will the voice of Kratos himself, Christopher Judge. And Gonzo, the Muppet, will also be there right alongside them all, tasked with handing out his very own Game Award trophy.

Music has always been a big part of The Game Awards, and this year marks the triumphant return of Pedro Eustache, lovingly known as “Flute Guy” after his particularly energetic performance during last year’s Game Awards. Alan Wake 2‘s Old Gods of Asgard will also be performing at this year’s Game Awards, hopefully doing a rendition of the absurdly catchy “Herald of Darkness,” taken from the game’s surprise musical sequence. The Game Awards has also just recently confirmed that three cast members from Amazon’s Fallout TV show will also be appearing at the ceremony, including Walton Goggins himself.

Fans Should Expect Even More Special Guest Surprises From The Game Awards 2023

While The Game Awards 2023 already has quite the impressive special guest line-up, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Geoff Keighley was keeping some of his biggest cameos secret. After Al Pacino showed up at last year’s Game Awards, it really feels as though anything is possible. Keighley clearly has a lot of contacts in both the gaming world and Hollywood, and it seems like a safe bet to assume that he’s going to call in a few big favors to make The Game Awards’ 10th anniversary a night to remember.
