Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida recently confirmed several highly-requested features, including visible hats for Hrothgar and Viera, are coming in the future. Though Final Fantasy 14 is focusing on Dawntrail right now, players can expect inventory space, glamour plates, and more after the expansion launches.
It is a well-known fact that Yoshida, lovingly nicknamed Yoshi-P, is an avid Final Fantasy 14 player who is known to make surprise in-game visits. He recently made one such visit on Chocobo, one of the Japanese servers, where he surprised and delighted Final Fantasy 14 players for the new year.
Final Fantasy 14 Reveals Heavensturn 2024 Event
Final Fantasy 14 rings in 2024 with a brand-new Heavensturn event featuring a charming questline and an adorable reward for players to collect.
During this visit, Yoshi-P fielded some questions from the community about Final Fantasy 14 development. During this impromptu Q&A, recorded by Final Fantasy 14 fans and translated by players on the official FF14 fan Discord, Yoshida confirmed some exciting features were coming to the game in the future. Final Fantasy 14 is currently focused on Dawntrail and the graphical update, but players can expect to get more inventory space and glamour plates, as well as new character customization options, after the expansion. However, one of the most exciting things is that Final Fantasy 14 was working on making head equipment visible for Hrothgar and Viera.
New FF14 Features Confirmed by Yoshi-P
- New housing exteriors
- Visible headgear for Hrothgar and Viera
- More inventory space and Glamour Plates
- Field content like Eureka and Bozja
- New character customization options
While it may seem like a minor thing, visible headgear for Hrothgar and Viera is actually a big deal. Final Fantasy 14 added the male Hrothgar and female Viera to the game back during Shadowbringers in 2019, but most headgear doesn’t show up when worn by these races. This was not rectified with the introduction of male Viera during Endwalker in late 2021, meaning these players have been unable to use most helmet glamours for over four years now.
Fans are understandably excited about all of these new features coming to the critically acclaimed MMORPG. Inventory space is always important for online games, and Final Fantasy 14 has always struggled to increase this due to it being built on old code. Yoshida recently confirmed he wants Final Fantasy 14 to be around for at least 10 more years, so fans are relieved to see the game working towards adding these much-desired improvements in the near future.
This year is going to be a big one for Final Fantasy 14. The last Fan Festival starts on January 6, promising new information about Dawntrail, which will be released sometime this summer. Patch 6.55 is also expected to come out before the end of January. These features Yoshida confirmed for Final Fantasy 14’s future may not all arrive this year, but players are still excited to know they are coming eventually.
Final Fantasy 14
Final Fantasy XIV’s original release was less-than-stellar, with many fans blasting the game for its array of issues. This prompted developers to cancel the MMO and rebuild it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Since then, the title has seen a massive resurgence and has quickly become one of the best MMOs ever made, with hundreds of thousands of subscribers online at any given time.
