A gamer unexpectedly got their father hooked on Starfield after they had purchased the game as a gift a week ago. While Starfield has a negative rating on Steam, the latest Bethesda sandbox still has its share of fans. It offers combat, questing, and character progression in the unique style that Bethesda is famous for, and the developers built it for long playthroughs. Starfield‘s biggest strength lies in its ship builder, as well as its addictive gunplay, and completing the main story offers a unique way for players to do everything all over again.

Entering Unity in Starfield starts New Game Plus, and each subsequent Unity reached by the player further increases the limit on how much they can upgrade their powers. While Starfield has wrestled with some strange bugs occurring in high levels of New Game Plus, Bethesda is preparing to launch regular updates in 2024, on top of releasing the upcoming Shattered Space DLC.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Would Be Wise Not to Have Starfield’s Ambition

The Elder Scrolls 6 should learn a valuable lesson from Starfield if it wants to deliver the experience fans are likely expecting after Skyrim.

It would appear that VividPerformance7987’s dad certainly fits Bethesda’s intended audience, as he managed to accumulate over 90 hours of playtime in Starfield in just 7 days. The thread was posted on the Xbox Series X subreddit by VividPerformance7987, as Starfield is not only considered a premium console exclusive on Microsoft’s platform, but is also available to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Bethesda fans can also find older titles such as Fallout 4 or Skyrim on Game Pass as well, which are great alternatives if players get bored with exploring the Settled Systems.

While the gaming community remains split on Starfield, its fans eagerly await the launch of the new Creation Kit, which will not only introduce official modding support to Starfield, but will also provide a platform for modders to release paid mods, with the revenue being split between Bethesda and the authors at a more favorable rate than its previous iteration. Given how much Starfield mods have already accomplished, the Creation Kit will allow players to make significant improvements to Starfield‘s procedural generation, a feature that has gotten plenty of criticism since launch.

Given how much VividPerformance7987’s father appears to be enjoying the game, some Xbox users suggested that he tries Cyberpunk 2077 next, as not only is the combat similar to Starfield, but CD Projekt Red has also managed to completely transform the game since its disastrous launch in 2020. Though it remains to be seen how Shattered Space will improve Starfield, Bethesda has around 250 employees working on the game, which certainly implies an ambitious scope for Starfield‘s first story expansion.
