A new Genshin Impact announcement reveals the official release date and time for the upcoming Special Program event for update 4.8.
Recent leaks have revealed that HoYoverse will continue this pattern by adding three new playable units in Genshin Impact update 5.0. A post by a Genshin Impact leaker named Somnus & FouL has given more details about a new five-star character expected to arrive with update 5.0. According to the leak, the new character will be a Hydro catalyst user, making them the fifth character to have this weapon and element combination. The post has revealed that the character’s kit will apparently revolve around its Elemental Skill and Normal Attacks.
Genshin Impact Leaks Kit Details About New Hydro Catalyst Character
- Elemental Skill enhances Normal Attacks and grants up to three stacks. Each stack provides a damage multiplier that scales with HP, which is common for Hydro characters in Genshin Impact.
- Once three stacks are acquired, the character can release five projectiles that deal the same damage as the enhanced Normal Attacks.
- Enhanced Normal Attacks deal increased AoE damage and can provide a healing effect. These attacks also have a damage multiplier of 20% for each stack. Launching the projectile will erase the stacks.
- Normal Attacks will drop small Hydro particles, and collecting them can extend the duration of the character’s Elemental Skill.
The fact that a large part of the character’s kit relies on using their Normal Attacks indicates that the new Hydro user could fit the DPS or sub-DPS role. Many fans in the comment section claim that the character will have a hard time matching the DPS power of Neuvillette, the last Hydro catalyst that joined the roster. He is considered by many to be the most powerful Hydro DPS unit in Genshin Impact.
This character probably won’t be the only DPS unit to join the roster in 5.0, as recent rumors revealed that a new Dendro DPS unit will most likely be part of the same update. However, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, especially considering that HoYoverse has already confirmed the arrival of a new five-star Dendro character named Emilie for update 4.8.
