During the August 27 Nintendo Direct showcase, Bandai Namco revealed that Tales of Graces f Remastered will be coming to multiple platforms on January 17, 2025. The Tales series of video games debuted in 1995 with Tales of Phantasia on the Super Famicom, eventually growing into a franchise that encompasses dozens of games like Tales of Graces f, including spinoffs that have become a series in their own right. It can be more than a little confusing, particularly for anybody who wants to check out a Tales game and doesn’t know where to start.

That confusion only grows when considering the fact that there have been remasters, ports, and even limited-edition releases of many of the more popular entries in the Tales of franchise. The original Tales of Graces launched on Wii in Japan in 2009 and is the 12th game in the mainline series. It got a PlayStation 3 port, called Tales of Graces f, which was released in North America and Europe in 2012.

Fans of the Tales series in general and of Tales of Graces specifically were excited to learn during the August 2024 Nintendo Direct event that Tales of Graces f will be getting a remaster, just in time for the 30th anniversary of the Tales series. Slated for release on January 17, 2025, the enhanced version of the game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X/S, as well as PC via Steam.

Tales of Graces f Remastered Will Launch Just in Time for the Anniversary

The remaster will introduce a number of quality-of-life enhancements like autosaves, avoidable encounters in fields and dungeons, improved graphics, and scenes that have been localized in English for the first time. Gamers who pick up Tales of Graces f Remastered should be ready to invest quite a number of hours, as the game will feature most of the DLC from the original version, more than 80 in total, including the “Lineage and Legacies” prologue that continues Sophie’s story six months after the events of the main game. It has been confirmed that the remaster will run at 60fps on all platforms, except the Nintendo Switch, and will reach 120fps on PC.

The story of Tales of Graces f Remastered follows the dynamics of childhood friendships and the way they carry over into adulthood. As the three main characters — Asbel, Sophie, and Prince Richard — must endure tragic events and fight to save the world of Ephinea. Their journey takes them to the three nations in the land, where they will encounter a cast of unforgettable characters and must deal with death, betrayal, and difficult decisions. And of course, along the way, players will frequently engage in Tales of Graces f‘s highly praised combat, which many gamers consider the best in the series.
