As it turns out, they’re single-use items that give you access to more stuff, depending on the type of book you’ve just read. Finding them can make all the difference when it comes to making your best weapons hit a little harder or making your base a bit more piratey, so they’re well worth seeking out. Here’s everything you need to know about Tomes in LEGO Fortnite.
Where to Find Tomes in LEGO Fortnite
Tomes come in two varieties in LEGO Fortnite:
- Prop Tomes – give you a new cosmetic to build in your village
- Rune Tome – add a rune type, allowing you to improve your weapons
Tomes are quite hard to come by in the Lost Isles. To have a chance to find a Tome in LEGO Fortnite, you must eliminate enemies or loot large golden chests. Thankfully, there are three ways you can get guaranteed tomes:
- Complete the village quests for the NaNa Village for one Prop Tome.
- Find the Rift Shrines on the Lost Isles island, which will give you a chest with a guaranteed Prop Tome when unsealed.
- Visit the special Rift Shrines on the Floating Islands; unlock the sealed entrances to the Beast Den and open the chest inside to give you the best chance of finding a Rune Tome.
How to Use LEGO Fortnite Tomes
Once you have one of the two different variety of Tomes in LEGO Fortnite, all you need to do to read it is put it into your inventory and use it.
After a short time perusing its pages, you’ll get a notification saying that you have unlocked a specific Rune if you have a Rune Tome or a new cosmetic item if it’s a Prop Tome.
Prop Tomes unlock a single random crafting option from the Salty Seaport selection. This is one of the largest collections of items you can get, but it enables you to make pirate-themed decorations, such as wall mounts and banners.
The good thing is that once you’ve unlocked a recipe by reading the book, it will permanently unlock it as an option in your list of crafting parts. You can check the Codex section in the pause menu to see what you’ve unlocked and how to make it.
