This quick guide provides tips on how to defeat Sniper Wolf, a sadistic enemy in the original Metal Gear Solid.
Get The Gas Mask
After successfully placing all three PAL Card Keys in their respective computers in the command room, players will get a cutscene that reveals Master Miller to actually be Liquid Snake. After this encounter, Snake will be trapped inside the command room with no foreseeable way out. Before taking any action, players will want to equip the gas mask if they have access to it. To find the gas mask, follow these steps:
- Visit Nuclear Storage B2. This will be in the second building, in the room where players must search for Otacon.
- Enter the second room on the right, just before the surveillance camera.
- Throw a Chaff Grenade to turn off the surveillance camera, and pick up the gas mask from the back of the room.
For players who don’t have the gas mask in their inventory, it is still possible to get out of the room, but some of Snake’s HP will be lost.

How To Escape The Gas Room
Now, to get to the main event: how to get out of the command room filled with gas. Luckily, this won’t be too difficult to complete, as all that will need to be done is call Otacon on the Codec. Open up the Codec, and contact Otacon from here. He will remind Snake that the glass is bullet-proof and can’t be destroyed, so he will attempt to hack into security to open up the doors.
After the first call, players will need to wait a few seconds before Otacon calls back. He will let Snake know that the doors have successfully been unlocked, allowing players to leave the room and follow after Liquid Snake down the stairs, eventually leading to their intense battle.
