After completing the first main story dungeon, players can participate in the Tournament, which allows them to reach Martira, Old Castle Town. Before proceeding further into the story, players can accept many available side quests and a bounty. One of these side quests is “A Dagger, a Ring, and A Rake,” which does not have a Deadline, so players can wait before reaching around Level 30 to attempt this quest.

This guide includes a detailed walkthrough of A Dagger, a Ring, and a Rake Quest and how players can defeat the boss inside to unlock the Faker Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Metaphor: ReFantazio gives players the ability to kill weaker enemies while in the overworld; but what is the level gap to do so?

Inside the Thoroughfare Square in Martira on 06/29, players can approach the Pompous Man to trigger a small section where a thief will steal Grius’ Dagger from you. Talk to Cuculus sitting on the suitcase, and he will ask you to agree to help you in return, bringing him the Malveno’s Ring from the Abandoned Tomb.

Initiating this quest does require Rank 2 Imagination, which players can increase by listening to the stories of the Chatty Elder in Grand Trad or reading the New World Travel Diary on the bookshelf in the Gauntlet Runner.

With the quest accepted, you can select the Abandoned Tomb on your map inside the Gauntlet Runner. During your journey to the Tomb, you must fight Demo Man Goddard, who focuses on reducing your Hit Accuracy and Evasion.

Try to stay on the offense, as halfway through the fight; the boss starts to spam his Hit and Evasion reduction attack, which causes you to miss a lot of your Skills, wasting two turns. Once this fight is over, you can spend time with your Followers before reaching the Tomb.

What To Do In The Abandoned Tomb

Inside the Abandoned Tomb, the path directly on your right is where you will find Malveno’s Ring, which is locked and needs a key. There are a lot of chests in this dungeon, but be careful, as opening some of them causes an enemy to attack you. The Pyrite Imitec has a weakness against Light attacks. Using the Gold Attack that Merchant Archetype has on the enemy wastes one of its turns.

Explore the dungeon until you find Plateau, the cat, near the north side of the dungeon. Save your game and head left on the map to find a large chest. Opening this will trigger a boss fight with Trove Imitec.

  • Protagonist – Merchant
  • Hulkenburg – Merchant
  • Strohl – Brawler

Trove Imitec is a Level 32 Boss who is very tricky to deal with, especially if you visit the dungeon at a lower level. The boss has two turns for its attacks. Similar to the other Imitec enemies in the dungeon, the boss is weak against Light Skill moves, and the Merchant’s Gold Attack is highly effective. The Gold Attack takes 500 Reeve but causes the boss to lose a turn. Players should use one Gold Attack every turn to ensure the boss is enticed by the money.

You can inherit the Hama Skill from the Healer Archetype or use an Igniter with the Mage Light skill to exploit the boss’ weakness and get multiple turns. The Brawler Archetype is resistant to all the Physical Attacks the boss performs, so it is perfect to use on one of your party members. The boss does Physical Attacks on either one or all the party members and has the Sleepy Air attack, which can cause the Sleep Effect. This must be cured as soon as possible because follow-up attacks on the sleeping targets are Critical Hits and give the boss an additional turn.

You should also Inherit the Healer’s
Medi
Skill for your Protagonist to recover your allies’ health during the boss fight. Alternatively, you can choose the
Healer Archetype for the Protagonist
while inheriting the Gold Attack from the Merchant Archetype.

With the boss fight completed, you can take the Key back to the blocked wall you found at the start of the dungeon. Opening the wall reveals another chest that has the Malveno’s Ring. You are free to explore the rest of the dungeon and acquire the remaining loot inside the chest or return to turn in the quest. Here are some of the items you can pick up inside the Abandoned Tomb:

  • Gold Beetle x1
  • Apprentice’s Abacus
  • Crimson Fangs
  • Sage’s Staff
  • Enigmatic Accessory
  • Magla Injection
  • Balm of Life
  • Hero’s Fruit
  • Spiked Gloves
  • Sandsilk Blouse
  • Twinkling Crystal
  • Scrap Metal

After returning to the Town from the Abandoned Tomb, head back to Cuculus, who will reveal his real name as Alonzo and become your Follower. After your conversation with Alonzo, you will unlock the Faker Archetype along with 15,000 Reeve (Money) that you can use to buy gear and increase Courage.
