How Jiro’s Rockstar Personality Fits With Her Quirk

Coming from a family of musicians, it only makes sense that Kyoka has a quirk that has something to do with sound. Her interest in rock music is shown during the series when she shows her room that looks like a music studio. Initially embarrassed to have music as an interest, she gradually changed her mind when she saw how her peers were surprised and in awe of her talents. Kyoka often likes to poke fun at fellow peers such as Denki Kaminari, who is usually oblivious to her sarcasm and side comments. Even though she may come across as uninterested in certain things, deep inside she is a sensitive person and cares deeply for her friends and is humble when her talents are mentioned or recognized.

She is also self-conscious about her looks and is not pleased when the boys don’t find her attractive. Kyoka, just like her peers, has a strong sense of responsibility as a hero and takes her training to become a powerful hero very seriously. She was initially unsure about the potential of her own quirks and her potential to become a hero, but was quickly able to see through that with the help of her peers. Her growth and experience at U.A. High School played an instrumental role in her becoming more confident and assertive as she became stronger, not just mentally but also physically with her quirks.

How Jiro Uses Sound As A Weapon

While her quirk is not completely efficient for close-quarters combat, Kyoka uses her Earphone Jack quirk to create sounds that can be powerful attacks. This includes using her earlobe earphone jacks as a cracking whip which generates powerful vibrations, throwing her enemies off guard and stunning them. She is also able to extend her headphone jacks quite far if needed. Kyoka also later learns how to plug her headphones into the ground to create sonic waves, causing the ground to quake and give away.

Thanks to her powerful earlobe jacks, she is able to detect the tiniest of sounds and vibrations. This allows her to investigate her surroundings and understand if there are battles happening close by or enemies walking towards her. Kyoka’s abilities were also recognized by Gang Orca, the current No.12 pro hero. Because of her abilities, she was given the opportunity to intern under the pro hero and learn to grow her techniques. A few of Kyoka’s powerful moves revolve around channeling the sound of her heartbeat and plugging her headphones into special sound amplifiers. Her costume comes equipped with amplifiers on her forearms and legs, giving her the ability to emit powerful sound waves from either amplifier. Kyoka uses her heartbeat to channel these sounds through the amplifiers to create sound waves. The level of the attack is based on the power of the sound waves she emits. She can create sound waves that she can direct towards a target using the equipment on her forearms and she can also create sound waves that act as a restriction, stopping the movement of her enemies.
