  • These powerful finishing moves often come at a cost, with some causing serious harm to the user or even resulting in their death.

Naruto fans have seen dozens of unique techniques throughout the series, and the vast majority of these moves fit into the ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu categories. Certain jutsu are also the result of some sort of Kekkei Genkai. Every type of offensive jutsu can be deadly if it is used properly, but certain attacks are far more effective than others. The best finishing moves in Naruto will either knock an enemy out or outright kill them. They are usually used against a single opponent, but certain finishing moves can wipe out an entire army. Some of these moves seriously hurt the user, and in some cases, they can cost the user their life.

10 Butterfly Mode

Defeated Jirobo Of The Sound Four & Asuma

Choji butterfly mode against Asuma in Naruto

Calorie Control is a secret Akimichi Clan technique that allows members like Choji to expand their bodies. This expansion is the result of calories being converted into chakra. Choji can also use Butterfly Mode – a highly advanced version of Calorie Control that converts all the user’s calories into chakra. When this mode is active, Choji gains butterfly wings made of chakra on his back.

Butterfly Mode significantly enhances the user’s combat ability to the point that a single punch can kill a ninja who is using a Level 2 Cursed Seal form. It can be unlocked through natural progression or through the Akimichi’s Three Colored Pills. Choji used this technique to defeat Jirobo of the Sound Four, and he later used it to defeat a reanimated Asuma during the 4th Great Ninja War.

9 Chidori

Fatally Wounded Haku, Obito & Kakuzu

Kakashi Hatake using Chidori against Kakuzu in Naruto: Shipudden

  • Sasuke Uchiha & Kakashi Hatake

The Chidori is a Lightning-Style Jutsu created by Kakashi Hatake, and it requires the user to gather lightning chakra in their hand. Once the chakra is gathered, the user typically charges at their target with a boost of speed. This speed boost is a great asset, but it forces the user to move in a straight line, which causes tunnel vision.

Naruto is full of characters whose lives have been rife with misfortune. Sometimes it drives them to heroism; other times, to villainy.

At its core, the Chidori is a piercing attack that is designed to deal fatal damage. Kakashi has finished off many opponents with his Chidori, including ninja like Haku and Kakuzu. He also defeated Obito with it when they fought in the Kamui dimension.

8 Sand Burial

Broke Rock Lee’s Bones At The End Of Their Chunin Exam Match

Gaara killing a Rain ninja during the Chunin Exams in Naruto

Gaara is seemingly the only ninja in Naruto who can manipulate sand. He gained this ability because he was originally the Jinchuriki of Shukaku the One-Tail. When Gaara was first introduced, he was a villain who enjoyed killing, and he liked to finish his victims off with the Sand Burial Technique.

Gaara would use the sand in his gourd to encase his target in a sand-like coffin, and he would then cause the sand to contract by clenching his fist. The sand compresses the target until they die. Gaara used this technique to kill Rain Ninja during the Chunin Exam, and he later used it to finish Lee off. In that instance, he broke Lee’s bones by compressing his arm and leg.

7 Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood

Has Killed Highly-Skilled Ninja Like Chiriku & Asuma

Hidan Laughs while using His Curse To Kill Asuma

When Hidan left the Hidden Steam Village, he joined a cult-like faith called Jashin. Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood is Hidan’s signature jutsu, and it is one of Jashin’s forbidden techniques. When Hidan ingests some of his opponent’s blood, his skin turns black and he gains white skeletal markings.

If he is able to step into a Jashin symbol on the ground, Hidan will become a human voodoo doll. As a result, Hidan’s target will sustain any injury that he sustains. Hidan would stab his own vital spots to critically injure or kill his victims. He used this curse to defeat Chiriku, Yugito Nii, and Asuma.

6 All-Killing Ash Bones

The Technique That Ultimately Killed Obito Uchiha

Kaguya using the All-Killing Ash Bones technique on one of Naruto's clones in Shippuden

As a member of the Otsutsuki Clan, Kaguya possesses god-like abilities, including the All-Killing Ash Bones technique. It is a Kekkei Mora that is unique to Kaguya herself, and it allows her to harden her bones, which then protrude from her body. These bones can be used as a melee weapon, but they can also be fired as a projectile.

All-Killing Ash Bones is a legitimate certain-kill technique because the body of Kaguya’s opponent will disintegrate if her bones pierce their body. She used this technique to destroy Naruto’s clones while they were using Sage of the Six Paths Mode. This was also the technique that killed Obito Uchiha.

5 Tengai Shinsei

Was Used To Annihilate The 4th Division Of The Allied Shinobi Forces

Madara using Tengai Shinsei During The 4th Great Ninja War in Naruto

The Allied Shinobi Forces were shocked to see a reanimated Madara on the battlefield, and no one expected him to have the Rinnegan. The legendary Uchiha wanted to test his power, and he did that by performing the Tengai Shinsei technique. It is a jutsu that can only be used by combining the Rinnegan’s Deva Path with a Susanoo.

The user performs three hand signs in unison with their Susanoo. This jutsu pulls meteorites down from the upper atmosphere, and forces them to land in a specific location. This is a jutsu that can wipe out all life within the impact zone, and Madara used it to wipe out hundreds of ninja at once.

4 C0

A Final Grandiose Explosion That Killed The Great Manda

Deidara using his C0 Explosion against Sasuke in Naruto

Deidara was the explosives expert of the Akatsuki, and he would use his Explosion Release Kekkei Genkai to mold his explosive chakra into clay. He could produce a variety of clay creations that he could detonate at any time, but C0 is undoubtedly his strongest attack. It was a last-ditched attempt to kill Sasuke, but it killed Manda instead.

In order to use this jutsu, Deidara needs to open the large mouth in his chest. Once the mouth feeds on some clay, Deidara’s body gets condensed into a small black sphere that slowly cracks until it explodes. The blast covers a 6-mile radius and vaporizes almost anything in its path. This is the definition of a finishing move because the user has to die in order to use it.

3 Tsukuyomi

A Torturous Genjutsu That Defeated Kakashi & Sasuke

Itachi Uchiha using his Tsukuyomi against Kakashi in Naruto

The Tsukuyomi is a genjutsu that can only be used by someone who has awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan. It is considered one of the strongest genjutsu in existence, and it was primarily used by Itachi Uchiha. He defeated Kakashi with it shortly after the Chunin Exams, and he later used it to knock Sasuke out.

Itachi can activate his Tsukuyomi by simply making eye contact with his target, but it consumes a large amount of chakra. Once someone is caught within the Tsukuyomi, their perception of time is completely altered. As a result, Itachi can force his target to endure hours of physical or psychological torture within a few seconds.

2 The Reaper Death Seal

A Soul-Stealing Finisher That Defeated Orochimaru & The Nine-Tails

The 3rd Hokage using the Reaper Death Seal against Orochimaru in Naruto

The Reaper Death Seal is a powerful sealing jutsu that is only used as a last resort because it kills the user afterwards. This is the jutsu that ultimately killed the 3rd and 4th Hokage. The 3rd used it to defeat Orochimaru by sealing his arms, and the 4th used it to seal the Nine-Tails.

After performing the hand signs, a terrifying shinigami will appear behind the user, and it will place its cursed arm through the summoner’s soul. That arm can then pull the soul of the summoner’s opponent out of their body. The shinigami then uses a knife to sever the opponent’s soul. The soul of the summoner and target are then consumed by the shinigami.

1 The Rasengan

A Signature Finisher That Has Defeated Ninja Like Pain

Naruto defeating Pain with the Rasengan

  • Naruto Uzumaki, Minato, Jiraiya & Konohamaru

The Rasengan was created by the 4th Hokage, but it became Naruto’s signature move. He learned the Rasengan from Jiraiya, and he has used it to defeat powerful ninja like Kabuto and Pain. The 4th Hokage used a Rasengan to defeat Obito during the Nine-Tails’ attack, and JIraiya and Konohamaru both defeated a Pain body with it.

The user has to gather chakra in the palm of their hand, and they must spin that chakra in multiple directions until it forms a sphere. The Rasengan is designed to grind into the target’s body, which causes a great deal of internal damage. In some cases, the Rasengan can propel the target away until their body hits something.
