What Do Strange Doors Do?
There are a ton of deviants in Once Human, and while some help players manage their territories or fight monsters, others like the Strange Door exist simply to make your life easier. It doesn’t do much by itself, but the materials this deviant provides can be extremely useful for players with large or complex bases.
The Strange Door is one of the many Territory deviants in Once Human, and if you somehow end up not getting one for yourself, here’s a quick guide showing where you can find one, including some important things to know about this deviant.

Where To Get The Strange Door In Once Human
Players can usually find a Strange Door floating about near door puzzles found all over the map. These appear as small congregations of random door frames occupying a plot of land somewhere. They’re very out of place and easy to spot, but since these are few and far between, here are some of the strange door puzzle spots that we’ve found so far, including approximate coordinates:
- Dayton Wetlands: Right behind the eastern palisade of Throughville (6504, -5211)
- Broken Delta: In the jungle thicket south of the Gaia Cliff Monolith (4417, -6469)
- Iron River: South of Ricci Securement Point (6611, -3682)
There’s a chance for a Space Turner to appear in any of these door puzzle locations instead of a Strange Door.
These door puzzles are relatively close to Teleportation Towers. If you don’t get a Strange Door from any of these, try switching worlds in Once Human, then check again. Changing worlds loads you into a different instance of the game on the same server. This means that there’s a chance that a Strange Door will be floating around on the same location but in a different game world.
Also, you can get a Strange Door by completing the main quest in the Chalk Peak region. There’s a segment right before the Shadow Hound boss that, when completed, will spawn a Strange Door deviant bubble for players to capture.
What Do Strange Doors Do?
The Strange Door is a crafting-type deviant that passively produces Shattered Strange Door pieces, a crafting material used to create Standing Portals. Combine these with Steel Ingots, Glass, and Acid to create limited-use portals that you can place around your base.
You can make only one pair of portals in your base. Also, every time you use a portal, the door you went through will take 20 points of durability damage. Don’t forget to repair them every once in a while. It won’t cost you any additional resources.
Much like other Once Human deviants like the Artisan’s Touch, there’s not much point in having a Strange Door occupy one of your limited Securement Containers for too long. It does nothing but produce crafting materials. As such, we highly recommend getting a small stockpile of Shattered Strange Doors and replacing the Strange Door deviant itself with something more useful, like Chefosaurus, Digby Boy, or Paper Doll.
