Key Takeaways

  • Talented Pokemon fan artist creates impressive Ice-type Meloetta variant design.
  • Meloloid variant combines Normal/Ice typing, building off original design elements.
  • Impressive fan art gains online praise, showcasing skill and creativity in the Pokemon community.

An artistically gifted Pokemon fan has come up with a unique variant for one of the franchise’s more distinctively creative creatures, Meloetta. The Pokemon fan artist makes deft use of the Mythical Pokemon’s rather uniquely designed appearance, resulting in an art piece that has already impressed many fellow Pokemon fans online.

Introduced as part of Pokemon‘s fifth generation, Meloetta is a dual-type Normal/Psychic known as the Melody Pokemon, given its appearance being heavily influenced by sheet music. Although it doesn’t evolve into or from anything else, Meloetta possesses a default Aria Form, as well as a second Pirouette Form, which changes its typing to Normal/Fighting. While not initially available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Meloetta became available via The Indigo Disk DLC. Tracking one down, however, is no easy feat, as Meloetta is considered the hardest Pokemon to find in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Fans Carve Pumpkins for Every Gen 7 Pokemon

A group of dedicated Pokemon fans carve a jack-o-lantern for every single Pokemon from Generation 7, just in time for Halloween.

Reddit user SayuriKoopa is responsible for the impressive Meloetta variant, which has been posted to one of the site’s main Pokemon pages. Rather than the two dual-types of its original forms, this variant, called Meloloid, is a dual-type Normal/Ice Pokemon. The design builds off this combination, styling the Pokemon’s musical bar-like hair into a scarf, along with giving it a blue-and-white color scheme. The treble clef headpiece has been doubled to act as earmuffs, and Meloloid’s eyes sport triangles, the symbol for a major chord, emphasizing its musical nature and making Meloetta a strong case for adding Sound-type Pokemon.

The end result is a design that looks like it could be canon, making clever use of both Meloetta’s design motif and the variant’s added Ice typing. Pokemon fans online also seem to agree, with upvotes in the triple digits and nothing but compliments occupying the post’s comments section. While certainly impressive, this isn’t the first Pokemon variant that SayuriKoopa has created. Earlier this year, the artist also designed variants for Larvitar and its evolutions, which was met with similar enthusiasm from the Pokemon fan community.

Gotta Catch ’em All! (Literally)

Considering how difficult Meloetta is to catch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, managing to catch a shiny version seems literally impossible. That is, until Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s latest free Pokemon giveaway. Accessing the giveaway is still rather difficult, however, as players are required to complete the Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy Pokedexes and then transfer each and every Pokemon into Pokemon HOME. Once doing so, though, they’ll be guaranteed a shiny Meloetta, which is sure to be a must-have for fans of the Pokemon like SayuriKoopa.
