Niantic launched a major graphical overhaul for Pokemon GO and a themed event focused on biomes and the traditional pocket monsters from Kanto. With the release of the latest Pokemon GO update, Niantic introduced a variety of quality-of-life changes and improvements to its augmented reality mobile game.

Almost eight years after its original release on iOS and Android devices, Pokemon GO still receives regular updates and gathers a faithful fan base eager to discover new time-limited events. Niantic regularly introduces new features, events, and Pokemon to keep players engaged in its mobile game. These updates range from themed events to new gameplay mechanics and quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback and evolving trends in the mobile gaming landscape. On top of these in-game adjustments, Pokemon GO holds real-life events to gather fans in multiple major cities around the world. The next Pokemon GO Fest will include new raid boss Necrozma and start on May 30, offering trainers an opportunity to add one more pocket monster to their collection.

Pokemon GO announces a new Hatch Day event, and this time it features an adorable baby Pokemon introduced in the early generations.

The latest Pokemon GO update brought a graphical overhaul to Niantic’s game with updates to the in-game map, encounter screens, and battle screens, among other quality-of-life improvements. Depending on the player’s location, they can discover new landscapes in Pokemon GO, such as lush forests, bustling cities, tropical beaches, and rugged mountains. This Pokemon GO update also introduced new avatar options, an updated GO Snapshot experience, and Style Shop features for players to customize their character. To celebrate these quality-of-life improvements, Pokemon GO launched the Rediscover Kanto event with various in-game bonuses.


Rediscover Kanto Pokemon GO Event Details

The Rediscover Kanto event will run until May 9 at 8 PM PDT and features Special Research as well as event-themed Field Research tasks. Trainers who complete the Special Research can earn experience points, Stardust, exclusive items, and event-themed Pokemon. Field Research tasks grant Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. The Rediscover Kanto event stars various biomes and exclusive Pokemon, with special attacks when evolving Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle. Last but not least, the Rediscover Kanto event grants all trainers increased XP for seven-day PokeStop spin and catch streaks, boosted friendship levels, and increased chance to encounter Shiny Bulbasaur, Shiny Charmander, and Shiny Squirtle in their respective biomes.

On top of this Rediscover Kanto event, Pokemon GO has debuted its Sustainability Week event for 2024. Trainers have boosted chances to catch Shiny Combee, Drilbur, Trubbish, Foongus, and Binacle during this time-limited event, which will end on April 26 at 8 PM local time.
