Highlights

  • Stardew Valley players should be cautious in the mines to avoid losing valuable inventory items.
  • Recovery services in the game can help retrieve lost items, but the process is limited to one item only.
  • Bringing only essential items to the mines can prevent significant losses and ensure smoother gameplay.

A Stardew Valley player who went to the mines ended up learning a very painful lesson to not bring more than they need with them. The player shared their misfortune with other Stardew Valley fans who were quick to share both advice and sympathy.

Stardew Valley isn’t a hugely punishing game, but there are mistakes that can be made that can significantly impact a player’s playthrough. For example, if a Stardew Valley farmer passes out from not making it to bed before 2 am, their farmer will lose energy and may end up paying a fee the next day. However, one fate potentially far worse than this is being defeated in the mines, which sees players losing a chunk of their inventory.

Stardew Valley Player’s Dog Accidentally Sabotages New Marriage In-Game

A Stardew Valley player who recently married an NPC tries to start their day normally, but their dog inadvertently hurts their marriage.

Such is the case for Reddit user Academic-Okra9016, who shared their results from having been defeated in the mines. Their character can be seen recovering in Dr Harvey ‘s office, with a screen indicating how many items they’ve lost. Unfortunately, most of what they lost was extremely valuable and/or was in large stacks. In all, they lost an Auto-Petter, Iron Ore, over 100 Life Elixirs, over 500 Triple Shot Espressos, and over 200 Hay. The game estimates the value lost at just under 293,000 gold, but the rarity of the Auto-Petter makes the loss all the more painful.

Stardew Valley Player Learns Harsh Lesson

Fellow Stardew Valley fans were sympathetic, but also chided the player for their choices. As many pointed out, it’s never a good idea to enter the mines with more than absolutely necessary due to the risk of losing gear like this. Bringing things like Triple Shot Espresso and Life Elixir makes sense, as one provides a speed boost and the other a significant health recovery. However, there’s no real reason to go into the mines carrying hundreds of them. Some questioned why the player would enter the mines with Hay at all, considering there’s no use for it there.

There is one bit of hope for the player in that they can recover one of these items. Marlon , who can be found at the Adventurer’s Guild, offers a service to retrieve items lost while delving in Stardew Valley‘s mines. However, he can only bring back one, and the rest will remain forevermore lost. Most players would recommend bringing back the Auto-Petter, as they’re extremely rare drops in the game unless one follows the Joja Route. Some players find Auto-Petters in the mines, so it’s possible it was a random drop for this fan.

Players also suggested that the fan simply restart the day to prevent these losses, which is a valid choice. However, if they did find the Auto-Petter on this trip through the mine, it might be better to deal with the loss of inventory items just to get the Auto-Petter. Having one can dramatically speed up routines around farms with animals, as players don’t have to interact with their animals daily to improve their happiness. The player hasn’t reported back on what they ended up doing, but hopefully they found a solution that main this loss as painless as possible.
