Mysterious Phenomena Quest Walkthrough
The first season of The First Descendant has arrived, introducing new content including a revamped dungeon experience. These dungeons are called Invasion Dungeons and feature new enemies, puzzle elements, and grinding them can help you get your hands on the new Descendant, Hailey, alongside other valuable loot.
But, in order to unlock these Invasion Dungeons, you first need to complete the seasonal questline. It’s a relatively quick quest chain that not only introduces the new mechanics but also prepares you for the challenges ahead. Completing these quests can be quite tricky, especially for beginners, so here’s a complete Invasions quest guide walkthrough for The First Descendant.
How To Start The Invasions Questline
For most players, the main seasonal questline will be locked, and it can only be unlocked after completing the main campaign of The First Descendant. Once you’ve completed the last quest of the main campaign, you’ll notice that the “Mysterious Phenomena“ quest has been added to your quest log. You need to talk to Nell at Albion to begin this questline.
The “Mysterious Phenomena” questline can be quite tough for beginners, especially the final boss fight that you’ll have to clear solo.
Having sufficient preparations is essential
for completing this seasonal questline.
Mysterious Phenomena Quest Walkthrough
When you talk to Nell in Albion, she will inform you of an illness that has struck every Descendant following the destruction of Ironheart. This conversation culminates into a two-part subquest which begins with the “Block Kuiper Mining” mission in White-Night Gulch. It’s a Special Operation where you’ll have to defend against waves of Vulgus forces.
While the difficulty of the Special Operation is fairly manageable, it is recommended to
use Descendants like Bunny or Viessa
to make the process faster.
Next is the “Inversion Circulation Device” subquest, which sends you to the Old Mystery Dungeon in Hagios with Hard difficulty. This dungeon is easy to clear solo, but you can queue for public matchmaking if your build isn’t strong enough.
Altered Design Using Inversion Reinforcement
After you’ve completed the above two missions, you have to return to Albion. There Anais will help you craft the new Inversion Reinforcement Device (IRD). This is a seasonal artifact that resets every three months, and as you play through the season, you’ll earn Ironheart Particles, which provide XP towards upgrading your IRD.
The Inversion Reinforcement Device (IRD) lets you unlock new perks that are
useful for both seasonal and endgame content
, making it essential for progressing in the seasonal questline.
Rescuing Hailey
Once you’ve finished crafting the IRD at Anais, you’ll receive the next quest which is to rescue Hailey, the newest Descendant from a Quarantine Zone dungeon. The dungeon starts in a cavern lined with plates on the ground. Your goal is to light the plates that correspond with symbols on the wall at the room’s blockade. You should use your grapple to reach the marked floating plates and charge them by standing on them.
Be sure to keep Vulgus forces away from the plates
, as they can deactivate them. Once all three plates are active, you’ll be able to proceed through the dungeon.
In the end, you’ll face Inversion Infused Ledras, an elite Vulgus with a shield that makes it immune to damage. To break the shield, you need to stand on a plate that matches the color of the shield. For instance, if the boss has a purple shield, you must stand on a purple plate. Once the shield is down, only then you can deal damage.
This mission
can only be attempted solo and requires a lot of defense
to survive the final fight. Durable or sustainable Descendants like Ajax, Gley, or Lepic are recommended for this fight.
Unlocking Invasions
After rescuing Hailey, she returns to Albion. Completing this mission unlocks the Invasion dungeons in The First Descendant, which are harder versions of standard dungeons. Invasion dungeons feature puzzle-solving mechanics similar to those in the Quarantine Zone and end with a boss fight. To progress through the season, you’ll need to complete ten of these dungeons.
You can only complete
four Invasion dungeons per day
, and that too, only in solo mode. You should check your map to find regions under attack, which are marked with a red border.
