Days before the August 1 release of Tomba: Special Edition, the PS4 and PS5 trophy list revealed that players must complete every in-game event and max out the titular protagonist’s statistics to collect them all. Developed by Limited Run Games and Whoopee Camp, Tomba: Special Edition will have 32 total trophies.

Tomba was originally released for the PS1 in 1997 by former Capcom developer Tokuro Fujiwara and his studio, Whoopee Camp. The player assumes the role of Tomba, the titular pink-haired hero, who goes on a quest to recover his grandfather’s golden bracelet from a band of Evil Pigs that stole it. By using magic, the Evil Pigs and their minions wreak havoc on Tomba’s world and its denizens. Tomba got a sequel in 1999, called Tomba 2: The Evil Swine Return, but the series did not see the light of day again for years. Although 2011 saw the PS1 Classics version of the Tomba series, Tomba: Special Edition was revealed in 2023 during Limited Run’s LRG3 presentation.

Players looking to take a trip down memory lane with one of the PS1’s top 2D platformers will have a clear path to getting all the trophies. According to PSNProfiles, Tomba: Special Edition will include 32 trophies on PS4 and PS5. The game’s Platinum Trophy will be awarded after getting the other 31. The trophy list for Tomba: Special Edition is divided into four gold trophies, 14 silver trophies, and 13 bronze trophies. All bronze trophies can be obtained by playing through the main story, while six silvers and two golds can be obtained by defeating all the Evil Pig bosses. However, Tomba’s debut game will not be the only release that Limited Run Games will work on. Tomba 2 will receive a Carbon Engine remaster in 2025, though details remain light.

Between Tomba: Special Edition and the return of other retro games like the Bubsy series, Limited Run Games is looking to give gamers a dose of nostalgia. Only time will tell when Limited Run Games and Whoopee Camp will bring further word about the Tomba series.
