  • New items hint at a bad luck protection system for Tusks of Mannoroth in WoW, making it easier to obtain this rare transmog item.
  • Bones of Mannoroth may boost the drop chance for Tusks of Mannoroth in World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria, sparking fan debate on accessibility.
  • WoW fans are conflicted about potential changes for Tusks of Mannoroth, with some wary of easier acquisition methods in the upcoming expansion.

World of Warcraft is seemingly adding another method to get the Tusks of Mannoroth, one of the rarest transmog items in the game’s history. If two newly discovered items are any indication, World of Warcraft players may be able to collect the cosmetic using a bad luck protection system of some kind.

With a drop rate of about .1%, the Tusks of Mannoroth are one of the rarest transmog items in World of Warcraft. They are obtained from Garrosh Hellscream, the final boss of the Siege of Orgrimmar raid in Mists of Pandaria, but even with the raid skip World of Warcraft added in Dragonflight, farming this item is an endeavor many consider hopeless.

World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria End Date Might Hint When The War Within Pre-Patch Begins

World of Warcraft fans think the end date for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria might reveal Blizzard’s plans for The War Within Pre-Patch and launch.

However, it seems like World of Warcraft might finally be giving players relief from their Tusks of Mannoroth farms. Wowhead recently datamined two new items: a cosmetic Tusks of Mannoroth drop, and another item called the Bones of Mannoroth, a stackable item ostensible obtained from Garrosh on Normal and harder difficulties. While if and how these items are connected, or what the Bones of Mannoroth do, is unknown, it seems to be some sort of bad luck protection system for acquiring the Tusks of Mannoroth in World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria.

The Infamous Tusks of Mannoroth in World of Warcraft

  • The Tusks of Mannoroth is a Plate Shoulder item obtained from Garrosh Hellscream in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid from WoW: Mists of Pandaria.
  • They are the iconic shoulder tusks worn by the old Warchief, gifted to him by Thrall after Garrosh’s father Grom slew Mannoroth.
  • The transmog has approximately a .1% drop rate from Garrosh, but players might have another way to get it in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria.

Current guesses would indicate that the more Bones of Mannoroth one has, the better the drop chance for the Tusks of Mannoroth would be, similar to the bad luck protection system World of Warcraft implemented for Legendary weapons like Fyr’alath, the Dream Render. Alternatively, players may be able to exchange 20 Bones of Mannoroth for the Tusks directly via a vendor.

While most fans are happy about the prospect of an easier time getting the Tusks of Mannoroth, some are not happy with it. These players, who earned the Tusks after hundreds or even thousands of kills, don’t like the idea of the rare item being easier to obtain, even if they aren’t sure how the system will work yet. Either way, fans won’t have to wait long to find out, as World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria kicks off on May 16.
