World of Warcraft: Some Major The War Within Features Coming Sooner Than Players Expected

Though World of Warcraft is planning to release The War Within sometime in late summer, players will be able to access some of its biggest features much earlier. It is too soon to have a solid release date, but World of Warcraft fans can expect the pre-patch for The War Within–which includes Dynamic Flying, Warbands, and cross-realm guilds–in early summer 2024.

Recently, World of Warcraft revealed an ambitious roadmap for 2024. It began this tradition in 2023, introducing a swift patch cadence featuring six updates throughout the year. In 2024, World of Warcraft is showing no signs of stopping and is planning on releasing content faster throughout the Worldsoul Saga and beyond.

However, it seems players might have access to some of the major features from The War Within even sooner than anyone could have guessed. The roadmap placed The War Within for a summer release, which was in line with what many expected. That said, The War Within’s pre-patch looks to be arriving in early summer. This patch includes some of the most exciting quality-of-life and gameplay features from The War Within, such as Warbands and Dynamic Flight, and could drop as early as June.

World of Warcraft: The War Within Pre-Patch Features

Players will have to wait a little longer for the bulk of the new expansion’s features, however. The new zones, level cap, Allied Race, and Hero Talents for The War Within won’t be added until the expansion’s full launch. While there is no official release date yet, judging from its current cadence and the roadmap, players can probably expect the expansion no later than August.

Either way, fans are thrilled these major features are coming to World of Warcraft so soon. While there is plenty to look forward to in The War Within, Dynamic Flight and Warbands received some of the most excitement when they were announced at BlizzCon. Pre-patch events in World of Warcraft are also quite memorable, so fans are eager to see what is in store for them before The War Within.

World of Warcraft isn’t the only MMO with a big release coming around then. Final Fantasy 14 is also releasing Dawntrail next summer, so fans who enjoy both of these critically-acclaimed MMORPGs will have a lot to play next year.
