A creative Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fan designed an impressive real-life Guardian model. The Guardian machines are recurring enemies within The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While the franchise features characters both good and bad that pop up in multiple titles, the Guardians were only first introduced in Breath of the Wild. The machines were originally created by an in-universe race called the Sheikah to defend against the main antagonist, Calamity Ganon, but as anyone who has played the game already knows, that plan didn’t work out so well.
While this fan is showcasing their creativity in the real world, the follow-up to Breath of the Wild, this year’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, tasks players with being more creative in-game. The crafting mechanic introduced in the sequel offers countless design options to solve puzzles and defeat enemies, but players have been creating all sorts of pop culture-inspired machines. One Tears of the Kingdom player created a short Godzilla video in the game.
28 Switch Games To Play If You Loved Breath Of The Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is among the Nintendo Switch’s most celebrated games, so here are a few games to try after saving Hyrule.
Now, Reddit user Krspybiscuit has taken their creativity out of Hyrule and created a real-life model of a Guardian from Breath of the Wild. Krspybiscuit has shared images of their amazing creation in various locations throughout a Hyrule-like woodsy area. While the model is impressive at first glance, it’s even more impressive when learning that the Guardian is largely created from nuts, bolts, beads, washers, and scrap electrodes.
In the final slides, Krspybiscuit shares images of the Guardian at various points of construction before it was painted. After seeing the final two slides, it’s easier to pick out certain pieces of the homemade figure, but the first few images simply look like a model that belongs in a Legend of Zelda fan collection.
While Breath of the Wild focuses mainly on exploration, its follow-up, Tears of the Kingdom, expands on the original premise and makes player creativity more of a point of emphasis. The mechanics within the game are so expansive, a college course is using Tears of the Kingdom to teach engineering to students. Meanwhile, the sequel manages to expand even more upon the exploration elements that made Breath of the Wild so popular.
Of course, Breath of the Wild won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2017. Six years later, Tears of the Kingdom is nominated for several awards, including Game of the Year. In fact, thanks in part to Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo has the most nominations at The Game Awards 2023.
