How to Use Goldfinch Automaton
In your Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom playthrough, you’ve probably noticed a sparkling object hung on the wall in someone’s house. These are items that can be obtained through the completion of minigames. One object you’re likely to find first is the Golden Fan at the Gerudo Oasis. Like other key items, you cannot make an Echo out of it, but you’re going to need it for “Get Rich Quick!” This is a side quest you can unlock and complete in the midgame of Echoes of Wisdom, and if you need to farm Rupees, it’s one you’ll want to do.
Get Rich Quick! Walkthrough
How to Unlock & Complete
“Get Rich Quick!” becomes available after you’ve completed the “Automaton Engineer Dampe” side quest. For this, you need to find Dampe northeast of Hyrule Ranch and defeat the crows that stole his Clockwork Key. Then, you can visit Dampe’s studio and start the “Automaton Engineer Dampe” quest. You’ll need to show him an Echo of a Tektite and a Mothula. After this, check the journal, and you can take on three more Automaton quests. To unlock “Get Rich Quick!”, you’ll need to complete the three requests listed in the journal:
- Performance Artist!
- Chop em’ in Two!
- Endless Stomach!
Interact with the journal again to start “Get Rich Quick!” For this, you’re going to need the Crow Echo and the Golden Fan. At this point, you should already have the Crow Echo. If not, you can learn the Crow Echo at the same spot where you met Dampe, or you can get it in the area between the Gerudo Desert and Lueberry’s House. To get the Golden Fan, you need to play the Mango Rush minigame, which is found in the hut behind the Smoothie Shop in Gerudo Oasis. You will receive the Golden Fan for getting 50 or more Tough Mangos in the Vibrant Seeds round. If this is your first time visiting, you’ll need to complete Standard Seeds (first round) before you can unlock Vibrant Seeds.
With the Golden Fan, return to Dampe’s studio. Speak to Dampe, choose “I want an automaton!” and then select “Get rich quick!“. Zelda will then give Dampe the requested Golden Fan, and you’ll receive the Golden Finch Automaton.

How Much Rupees Does It Farm?
The Golden Finch Automaton works just as any other Automaton: Summon it by holding down left on the directional pad, and scrolling to the Golden Finch. Wind it up with the Y-button, and the Golden Finch will take flight. Like a regular Crow Echo, it’ll attack enemies and cause them to drop Rupees. The Golden Finch is much faster than the Crow. When it hits its target, the enemy will drop 5 Rupees and 20 Rupees. After a while, the Golden Finch will need to be rewound. You can increase winding time by drinking a Twisty Smoothie (requires Twisted Pumpkin as one of the ingredients). Be careful the Golden Finch doesn’t get too damaged. If it does, you’ll need to take it to Dampe and have it repaired for a fee.
If you hold the Golden Finch and jump off a ledge, you can use it to glide a short distance, just as you can with cuccos and keese.
