Dueling feats in Hogwarts Legacy are small optional combat challenges intended to reward players each time they are executed correctly. They can’t be tracked traditionally through the main menu, but players can look at their overall feat progress by navigating to challenges and then combat, and then scrolling down to “Complete Dueling Feats”. Dueling feats will also appear on the screen as they are available in the bottom-right corner of the screen, just above the HUD controls. They will appear automatically when fighting an enemy related to the feat. The difficulty of each feat will depend on the particular enemy.
Successful completion of a feat will unlock the following gear appearance rewards: the officer’s uniform and hat, the Halloween pumpkin mask, the autumn festival coat, and finally, the demiguise mask. Players would be remiss to forget about the combat combos learned while completing dueling feats.
Updated January 20, 2024, by Ritwik Mitra: Hogwarts Legacy shattered all records on launch to become one of the most successful video games ever made. A sequel to this game will be made sooner rather than later, which will hopefully address some of the complaints players have about this title. Among the game’s strong points, Avalanche Software nailed the combat. Players relish the idea of completing a wealth of Dueling Feats during these action-packed sequences to obliterate any enemy standing in their way.
7 Best Core Talents In Hogwarts Legacy
Core Talents in Hogwarts Legacy might not be the quintessential element of a Wizard’s strength but one definitely shouldn’t neglect them.
13 Levitate A Dugbog
Catch A Dugbog When It’s Vulnerable, and Punish It by Making It Hang Mid-Air
Dugbogs are one of the many creatures players have to fight in Hogwarts Legacy. These enemies can be a downright pain to defeat at times. They are large, hulking beasts who aren’t affected by most Force and Control spells unless players use them at the right time.
When a Dugbog brings its tongue out to attack the player, cast Levioso at this very moment to make a Dugbog hang by its tongue. It’s a humiliating, satisfying way to incapacitate an enemy that can be annoying to deal with otherwise.
12 Steal A Ranger’s Crossbow Bolt
Use Ancient Magic Throw to Steal a Ranger’s Magical Bolt and Hurl It Back at Them
The Loyalist Rangers can be difficult to deal with. They take potshots at the player from afar, forcing the fifth-year student to stay on their toes at all times. While these enemies can seem daunting at times, there’s a simple way to eliminate their threat and use their projectiles as a weapon.
Sometimes, these enemies will unleash a bolt unfused with dark magic. This bolt can usually only be dodged, but players with quick reflexes can use Ancient Magic Throw to turn this bolt around and hit an enemy instead. It’s a satisfying way to make these annoying enemies pay for trying to take the player out.
11 Slow An Ashwinder Executioner After They Release Their Lightning Spell
Use Arresto Momentum to Halt the Enemy, and Turn This Attack Against Foes
Ashwinder Executioners are no joke. They can cast high-damage AoE spells that can hit players for immense damage. It’s important to be aware of one’s surroundings at all times to dodge these attacks and wallop these enemies before they can cause problems for the player.
Hogwarts Legacy: All Keeper Trials, Ranked
The Keeper Trials are all fascinating side quests in Hogwarts Legacy, but some are more interesting and memorable than others.
These Ashwinder Executioners can be slowed with Arresto Momentum right after they cast their spell, turning this attack into a dangerous one for anyone involved in the battlefield. There’s nothing more satisfying than baiting other enemies to be struck by this spell, which makes for a challenging yet satisfying Dueling Feat to accomplish.
10 Destroy The Orb As It’s Charging Up
Match the Color of the Shield With a Spell to Prevent the Pensieve Guardian From Attacking
This Dueling Feat is completed while fighting the Pensieve Guardian, a boss found near the end of Percival Rackham’s trial quest during the main story in Hogwarts Legacy. While using ancient magic to complete the other dueling feat is fairly straightforward, the feat with the orb can be tricky.
To complete it, cast the same color spell as the orb. For example, if the guardian’s orb is glowing yellow, cast Levioso (a “yellow” spell) to break the orb and complete the dueling feat.
9 Flip A Troll’s Club
Use Flipendo To Exploit A Troll’s Vulnerability
To complete this dueling feat, players must first find a troll. Trolls can be found in troll lairs and caverns. One such location is northeast of the Forbidden Forest, southwest of the North Ford Bog floo flame. Zoom in on the map and look for the little cave icon to find the lair.
After finding it, quickly cast the Flipendo spell right after dodging the troll’s charge attack. This should cause the troll’s club to fall to the ground just after it misses.
8 Hit A Troll With Its Own Boulder
Use Protego to Stop a Troll’s Boulder, and Use Ancient Magic Throw
After locating yet another troll, cast Protego and then immediately use Ancient Magic Throw to chuck the boulder back at the troll to complete this dueling feat.
Hogwarts Legacy’s Treatment of Trolls is a Massive Missed Opportunity
Hogwarts Legacy is a wonderful experience for fans of the IP, but struggles with enemy variety, and trolls could have helped make it more diverse.
Though it sounds straightforward, this one is tricky for one simple reason: it’s hard to know when the troll is going to throw a boulder, and it’s also hard to time Protego just right. Extending the distance from the troll to the player before it throws the boulder will give players more time to cast Protego. A yellow warning symbol will flash on the screen just before the troll tosses the boulder.
7 Launch An Enemy Into A Destructible Object
Use Depulso to Push a Foe Into Something That Can Be Destroyed
Players can achieve this dueling feat by getting any enemy to stand near a destructible object (such as a red explosive barrel), then by casting Glacius once the enemy is in front of it. After the enemy is frozen, cast Depulso, sending the enemy flying into the object.
Destructible objects don’t have to be red barrels; they can be any objects that will break upon impact (and that players can throw into enemies with Ancient Throw), such as a vase or a wooden crate.
6 Bury A Matriarch Spider’s Head Into The Ground
Cast Arresto Momentum Before the Spider Attacks, and Use Depulso To Humiliate It
To trigger this dueling feat, find a Matriarch spider by locating the web symbol on the map, which indicates a spider lair. It can’t just be any spider; it must be a matriarch spider.
To bury the matriarch spider’s head into the ground, cast Arresto Momentum just as the spider readies its attack, which will pause or slow it down. Then, cast Descendo. The spells must be cast in quick succession. When done correctly, the giant spider will hilariously flip head-first into the ground.
5 Catch And Throw A Disarmed Weapon
Combine Expelliarmus and Ancient Magic Throw
This dueling feat can be used against any enemy who wields a weapon. Land an Expelliarmus cast at an enemy, and just as the weapon soars into the air (but before it hits the ground), use Ancient Magic throw. The controls to land the throw should pop up on the screen, but players might need to look up to see the weapon, as it can bounce out of the display.
Hogwarts Legacy: How to Learn Expelliarmus
Hogwarts Legacy players can use Harry’s signature spell Expelliarmus to disarm and damage enemies, but they must first learn the spell.
As long as the enemy’s weapon is thrown back at it, players will complete this dueling feat.
4 Flip A Dugbog
Use a Force Spell Like Flipendo to Incapacitate Dugbogs
There are two dueling feats to flip dugbogs. To flip a dugbog while it’s waiting to use its sneak attack, simply locate one, cast Disillusionment and slink up to it without being noticed, and then cast Flipendo.
The second feat is to flip a dugbog onto its back. This can be achieved by simply casting any purple force spell at the dugbog, such as Depulso. Dugbogs have lairs just like trolls, which can be found by zooming in on the map and hovering over caves.
3 Launch A Burning Enemy Into Another Enemy
Using Confringo or Incendio on a Foe, and Launch Them Into Another Enemy with Depulso
This feat can be achieved by finding two enemies close to one another but may take some time and careful manipulation to pull off.
To launch one burning enemy into another enemy, ignite the first enemy with either Confringo or Incendio. Then, as long as the enemies are relatively lined up, use a purple force spell such as Depulso to launch the first enemy into the second one. The second enemy must ignite as well to complete the feat.
2 Slice A Dangling Dugbog
Use Levioso To Hang a Dugbog By Its Tongue, and Use Diffindo for Critical Damage
After finding a dugbog (reminder: dugbogs have lairs and also can be found in and near bodies of water), simply cast Levioso to launch it into the air. While the dugbog is levitated, cast Diffindo to slice it open.
Diffindo is unlocked after completing Professor Sharp’s second assignment, which requires players to use both a Thunderbrew and an Invisibility potion against enemies. These potions can be crafted in the Room of Requirement, which is the cheaper option in the long run, or bought in Hogsmeade from J. Pippin’s Potions.
1 Summon Two Enemies Simultaneously
Upgrade Accio and Use It on Two Enemies Who Are Close To Each Other
This feat uses the word “summon” confusingly, but it essentially means the player has to pull two enemies forward at the same time.
This feat can only be completed by first unlocking Talents. Talents are unlocked by completing the main story quest “Jawdaw’s Rest,” which allows access to the talent tree. By putting one talent point into the ‘Accio Mastery’ talent, players can complete the feat by pulling two enemies who are side-by-side forward at the same time using the Accio spell as they normally would.
