This powerful weapon can tear enemies apart in as little as one swing. With the right perks and mods, the stun baton is one of the best weapons in the game.
While it is an expensive weapon to get, and even more expensive to craft the mods, the cost is more than worth it as this weapon is very powerful. Investing a few points in the perks surrounding the stun baton is a great way to increase your odds of survival. This guide will go through all there is to know about getting and using the stun baton.

Players should consider which type of melee weapons would be a worthy investment in 7 Days to Die based on their damage, utility, and efficiency.
How To Get The Stun Baton
There are a few different ways that players can get their hands on a stun baton:
- Crafting One At A Workbench
- Purchasing One From A Trader
- Receiving One As A Mission Reward
- Finding One In A Loot Container
Crafting A Stun Baton
In order to craft the stun baton, you’ll need to read a total of 26 Tech Planet Magazines. You’ll find magazines in most loot containers. But for a better chance at finding Tech Planet Magazines, you can search electronics boxes in stores like Mo Power Electronics for a higher chance of finding this particular magazine. Most traders will also sell a couple of copies of this magazine. It’s a pretty common magazine to find, so it won’t take more than a few days to read 26 of them.
The more Tech Planet Magazines that you read, the better the quality of your stun baton. After you have read 50 Tech Planet Magazines, you’ll be able to craft a tier 6 stun baton. The base cost of crafting a tier 6 stun baton can be seen below:
- Baton Parts: 6
- Forged Iron: 30
- Duct Tape: 12
- Electrical Parts: 12
- Legendary Parts: 1
Purchasing A Stun Baton
As your loot stage goes up, you’ll begin seeing better quality items being sold by traders. Also, if you invest a few points into The Daring Adventurer perk, then you can increase the quality of items that are sold by the traders. While there’s no guarantee that a trader will have a stun baton in their inventory, it’s worth checking in with them each time they restock to see if they have any for sale. The trader with the highest chance of selling a stun baton is Trader Hugh. This guy specializes in all things weapon-related.
Receiving A Stun Baton As A Mission Reward
Completing trader missions is something that most players will do on a regular basis. While the rewards do vary, there’s a chance that you’ll be awarded a stun baton as one of the possible mission reward options upon completing a mission. The harder the mission, the better the rewards. If you have maxed out The Daring Adventurer perk, then you’ll be able to pick two rewards each time you complete a mission. Since there’s no guarantee that you’ll ever be awarded a stun baton, it’s not really the best way to try to get one. That said, you do earn a fair amount of Dukes for completing trader missions. So, it is a good way to save up some money to buy better items from traders.
Finding One In A Loot Container
A large part of 7 Days To Die is centered around looting and gathering materials. As you progress and your loot stage increases, you’ll start finding better items in containers and chests. It’s not uncommon to find the occasional stun baton inside a loot chest, especially end of POI loot chests. The better the loot container, the better the chances are of finding something nice like a stun baton.
The skill lucky looter will help to boost the quality of items you find inside loot containers. That’s not the only perk that will help you find a stun baton. If you invest points into Electrocutioner, then the chances of finding a stun baton and baton parts are greatly increased. There are also some armor pieces and consumables that can help to increase your chances of finding something nice inside a loot container.
Books And Magazines For The Stun Baton
As mentioned in a previous entry, after reading a total of 50 Tech Planet Magazines, you’ll be able to craft a tier 6 stun baton. With a bit of effort, it is possible to find and read 50 Tech Planet Magazines within the first week of your playthrough. But that’s not the only thing you can read to help with stun batons. The book series Tech Junkie makes stun batons way more powerful. After reading Tech Junkie Volume 5, you’ll be able to craft the Stun Repulsor Mod. This mod, when used, sends zombies flying on each charged hit. This is roughly every three strikes.
Not only does this send the zombie you hit flying, but it also sends any nearby zombies flying too. This is very handy for clearing out top-tier POIs and during horde nights. Since the stun baton doesn’t require any ammo, it is the perfect weapon for keeping zombies at bay for very little cost.
Skills That Boost The Stun Baton’s Damage
There are a few perks that greatly increase the damage output and swing speed of the stun baton. The three main ones are Electrocutioner, Calculated Attack, and Physician. Each rank of Electrocutioner increases your damage output with a stun baton. Not only that, but it reduces the stamina cost for swinging the weapon and the last few ranks also restore stamina with each stun baton kill.
Calculated Attack allows you to swing the stun baton much faster than normal. At rank 3, you’ll be able to swing the stun baton 25% faster than normal. As for Physician, while it is a perk centered around healing, the last couple of ranks have a big impact on the stun baton. Rank 4 of Physician gives players a 20% chance to dismember enemies with batons. Rank 5 gives the player a 10% chance to instantly kill any enemy with each swing of the stun baton.
Apparel To Boost The Stun Baton’s Damage
There are lots of armor sets in 7 Days To Die. There’s at least one armor set that is designed to fit each build type. There are a few pieces that directly impact the usefulness of stun batons. While there are some armor pieces that reduce the speed at which your weapons degrade, the pieces that increase swing speed and damage are by far the most useful. The pieces that are best suited for the stun baton can be seen below:
- Preacher Gloves: Up To +60% Undead Damage
- Biker Gloves: Up To +60% Melee Weapon Damage
- Assassin Gloves: Up To +20% Attack Speed
- Nerd Gloves: Up To +60% Intellect Weapon Damage
Mods For The Stun Baton
The Stun Baton Repulsor Mod has already been mentioned in a previous entry. This is by far the most powerful mod for the stun baton. That said, it’s not the only mod that can be applied to this weapon. The list of mods that can be fitted to the stun baton can be seen below:
- Stun Baton Repulsor Mod – Sends Zombies Flying On A Charged Hit
- Bunker Buster Mod – Does 25% More Damage Against Stone

- Stun Baton Repulsor Mod
- Weighted Head Mod
- Ergonomic Grip Mod
- Structural Brace Mod
Why The Stun Baton Is Worth Using
The sheer power that this weapon has is pretty overpowered. When it is combined with the right perks, armor, and mods, it is by far the most efficient melee weapon in the game for taking down enemies. It is fast hitting, hard hitting, and has the ability to both instantly kill zombies and send them flying.
With the right build, this weapon is almost unstoppable. The only downside is the stamina cost. That said, it isn’t the most costly weapon in the game in terms of stamina usage. As you progress through the game, you’ll be able to increase your stamina, and you’ll end up being able to swing the stun baton for virtually no cost.
