Key Takeaways

  • A Skyrim player noticed the College of Winterhold from Solitude, showcasing hidden details 13 years post-release.
  • The inclusion of the College view demonstrates Bethesda’s attention to detail in Skyrim’s expansive world.

A Skyrim player online has noticed that the College of Winterhold is visible in the distance all the way from Solitude when viewed from the right angle. Players continue to discover new details about Skyrim almost 13 years after its initial release.

The world of Skyrim is well-traveled at this point. It has remained one of the most popular games on the market since its release, and it always feels as though players have exhausted everything it has to offer. However, there are clearly still some small details that players aren’t aware of. Just recently, another Skyrim player noticed a hidden path after 13 years, showing that even those playing since release day may not have seen everything yet. It’s a credit to Bethesda’s attention to detail, that players can still be finding new things after all this time.

Skyrim is a game that has endless potential thanks to the sea of mods available, but what is in the store for Star Wars fans?

Redditor First_Ad_793 noticed that players are able to see Skyrim‘s College of Winterhold in the distance when looking in its direction from Solitude. It’s not as detailed, of course, but the shape is very distinctive to the college. One player in the thread was unsure about whether this was the College of Winterhold or another tower, but another user provided reasoning as to why it is the iconic location, claiming “you can clearly see the shape of the pillar of land it’s on. The jagged dark area to the right of it is the tower of Nightcaller temple.”

Skyrim’s College of Winterhold is Visible From Solitude

What’s so interesting about this is that the original screenshot from First_Ad_793 is from an elevated view, which players would only be able to reach by climbing Solitude’s city walls and taking note of their surroundings. Very few players will ever do this, which makes the inclusion of this Skyrim detail all the more impressive. It would have been easy for Bethesda to obscure the view with fog for performance reasons, but this makes the world feel much more connected.

It’s cool to see Skyrim still delivering new experiences for players, even if the demand for a sequel is increasing. The existence of The Elder Scrolls 6 has been revealed for years now, but Bethesda has yet to confirm any concrete details about the title, which could still be a few years away yet. Earlier this year, a Bethesda dev accidentally hinted at The Elder Scrolls 6‘s setting, suggesting the game may be set in Hammerfell. Only time will tell if this comes to fruition.
