Players have to decide early if they try to get the artefact from Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3. Regardless of that outcome, at a certain stage, the artefact is given to the player, and they get to decide what to do with it. It’s a mysterious object and no amount of skill-checking success reveals the truth about the device.

So, when two Kith’rak NPCs ask for the artefact, players will be conflicted. On one hand, they may be giving up something that has been useless so far and does very little. On the other hand, the artefact could be one of the most powerful and untapped resources that Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer.

Baldur’s Gate 3: 5 Most Important Choices In Act 1

Baldur’s Gate 3 presents players with decisions that impact the story. Act 1 has some of the most important choices players will make.

Updated on January 31, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: There are actually two scenarios players might find themselves in while facing Kith’rak’s questioning, one where Lae’zel is included in the party, or the other where she is not. The former is a lot easier as the githyanki already considers you somewhat of a companion and will play along with your schemes, while the latter scenario forces you to use your skills more to get out of the situation. Either way, make sure to decide the artefact’s fate wisely as the decision will impact Shadowheart’s relationship.

This article divulges consequences within the game and reveals information the player’s character may not know. Gamers committed to role-playing may wish to stop reading and find these things out for themselves.

Giving The Artefact To The Kith’rak In Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 Considering Giving The Artefact To The Kith'rak

Here is the summary of the choices regarding the artefact’s fate upon encountering Kith’rak in the Mountains:

  • The artefact will return to the character no matter what.
  • Aside from Lae’zel, the party generally disapproves of this decision.

This ends up being a non-decision as far as the long-term story goes, but that hardly means it doesn’t matter. If players are willing to part with the artefact, characters like Shadowheart and Astarion see this as a bit of a breach of trust. The character giving away power so easily that belongs or belonged to them at one point doesn’t make them happy.

If players really want to make this choice, switch party members and have the bulk of the squad stay at the camp aside from Lae’zel. She actually approves of this decision due to her positive relationship with the gith at that stage. Players can make an offer to both Kith’rak Voss and Kith’rak Voss Therezzyn and Lae’zel will appreciate the giveaway in both instances.

On the other hand, if players haven’t convinced Lae’zel to join their party, the options will be a bit different from the previous scenario. For the most part, don’t keep quiet when Lae’zel is speaking and cut her off to trigger the option to show the artefact is available, which leads to a fight. Alternatively, if you keep playing stupid, persuading, or intimidating in Baldur’s Gate 3, Kith’rak will let you go unscathed.
