Dead Island 2: Mall Cops Luggage Key Location (Officer Wilson’s Luggage)

Dead Island 2 has many collectibles to find, as there are a ton of keys that open all sorts of different lockboxes, suitcases, and more, all of which contain secret rewards. Ocean Avenue is one of Dead Island 2‘s most robust locations in Hell-A to explore, as it’s a pretty open area with a lot of different sections to explore such as a shopping mall, an underground car park, a news office, and more. Ocean Avenue also has quite a few different locked ‘chests’ to find the keys for, including Officer Wilson’s Luggage.

It’s not always easy actually finding these keys in Dead Island 2, as these are often found in areas locked behind main story quests. You’ll also need to know what to keep an eye out for, so most often if you find one without a guide, it’s by pure chance. Thankfully, we know exactly where to find the key to Officer Wilson’s Luggage, so let’s go in-depth into how you can find it too.

Updated May 30th, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: Dead Island 2 is a game with a whole lot of different things to collect. Weapons, Skill Cards, Supplies, Blueprints, Healing Items, and more. And, a lot of the best stuff is found behind locked doors, or at best inside locked chests/boxes. To open these doors, chests, and boxes, you’ll need to find a whole lot of keys, such as the Mall Cop’s Luggage Key that you’ll grab off of Officer Wilson in Ocean Avenue. While the actual item found in Officer Wilson’s Luggage isn’t all that amazing, it’s at least worth the time it takes to run out there, kill the now zombified version of him, and return back to the Serling Hotel to open the suitcase.

After completing the main story quest called The Final Gauntlet, you’ll eventually end up at the Serling Hotel in the Ocean Avenue region of Dead Island 2. In Room 2, where you can talk to Luther, you’ll see a blue locked suitcase on the ground near the door. This is Officer Wilson’s Luggage, which is locked.

To open Officer Wilson’s Luggage, players must find and defeat a particular Named Walker (Officer Wilson himself) to retrieve the key that opens this Luggage.

Time to Hunt Down Officer Wilson

To find the Walker carrying the Mall Cop’s Luggage Key, follow the steps listed below

1. Exit the Serling Hotel & head to the end of Venture Walk as marked on the map in the image above.
2. Head behind the fenced area and find a named Walker, AKA Officer Wilson, covered head to toe in heavy-duty body armor.
3. Defeat Officer Wilson, and to do so you’ll want to aim for the areas where you can break his armor such as the legs, and melee weapons can help a lot with this.
4. From Officer Wilson’s body, you’ll grab the Mall Cop’s Luggage Key.
5. Return to Officer Wilson’s luggage at the Serling Hotel.
6. Open his Luggage to receive a bunch of money. Not exactly the ‘best’ reward, but it’s still a pretty sizeable chunk of money regardless (for us it was about $900).

Yes, as it turns out there’s no Legendary Weapon or Rare Blueprint reward to be found here, sadly, but it’s still a pretty decent reward for a quick side activity.
