A Doom fan has recently discovered a perfectly preserved copy of Doom 3 in an old storage unit. One of the joys of owning physical copies of games is keeping favorite titles forever, and this gamer made quite a find for an old-school Doom 3 fan.

Doom 3 was originally released in 2004. While some diehard fans who love the older entries of the franchise may not put it among the best Doom games, Doom 3 stood out by having a unique take on the franchise’s formula. Unlike previous Doom titles, which focused on quick-paced action, Doom 3 was more of a survival horror FPS, having a darker atmosphere and somewhat slower gameplay. Despite these bold changes, the title attained a huge commercial success, and it sold over 3.5 units over time, becoming id Software’s biggest hit until that point.

28 Brutal Games Like Doom You Need To Play

Doom may be one of the most brutal games out there, but for anyone looking for a similar experience, any of these games would be a great choice!

Now, 20 years after Doom 3’s release, a gamer called Kagemuna found an original Xbox physical copy of the game in perfect condition while looking at their storage unit. Kagemuna shared three pictures of the old disc on r/Doom, revealing that the game still has its case and official manual. Unfortunately, Kagemuna disclosed in the comments of the post that they do not own an Xbox anymore. Doom 3 was among the best games on the original Xbox, so it’s a shame that the gamer will not be able to play this gem anytime soon.

Gamer Shares Doom 3 In Perfect Condition They Found In Old Storage

Despite being quite an old title, Doom 3 is still getting some attention from its community. Last year, for example, modders made Doom 3 become much more quick-paced. By installing a new mod called Runner’s Doom 3, gamers can speed up the title’s gameplay. Runner’s Doom 3 not only makes the players move faster than usual, but also diminishes the enemy reaction times, and makes foes respawn after dying. These changes greatly increase the action of an otherwise slower title.

Kagemuna is not the only fan finding old Xbox-related products in forgotten spaces, though. A few months ago, another gamer discovered a rare version of the Xbox 360 in their shed. Deemed by some fans as one of the most good-looking versions of Microsoft’s old console, this find was a Halo 4-themed translucent version of the Xbox 360 that not many players own. Fortunately, the old-school console looked completely functional, despite being left forgotten in a dusty space for quite a long time.
