As those who played through the first two seasons should be all too aware by now, Mortal Kombat 1‘s Invasions Mode can be incredibly repetitive at times. Together with the end of Mesa boss fights, Klues can provide momentary respite from the near-endless grind, requiring players to perform special actions during an encounter to earn useful and unique rewards.

Mortal Kombat 1: How to Perform the Winter Finisher (Christmas Fatality Video Guide)

For most people, winter is the season to be jolly. For the developers of Mortal Kombat 1, though, it’s an excuse to release another premium fatality.

One of these Klues can be found in the Buried node of the Fengjian Village mesa. The Klue reads PAT LANIPS, which observant players will no doubt have realized is SPINAL TAP backward. However, rather than the medical procedure of the same name or Rob Reiner’s hilarious 1984 satirical comedy This is Spinal Tap, PAT LANIPS refers to one specific Kameo Fatality, which players will need to perform in order to solve the Klue.

How to Solve the PAT LANIPS Klue in Mortal Kombat 1

To complete the PAT LANIPS Klue, players will need to perform Sub-Zero’s Spine Rip Kameo Fatality, which can be done by pressing Forward, Down, Forward, Kameo (R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox, or R on Switch) while standing at medium range. It’s worth noting, though, that despite Spine Rip being classified as a mid-range Fatality in-game, players may need to stand a little further back than usual to correctly pull it off. It doesn’t seem as though it’s possible to stand too far back for the Fatality to work, so players should put as much distance between themselves and Geras as possible to minimize the risk of having to repeat the encounter from the beginning.

PAT LANIPS Klue Rewards

Once players have completed the PAT LANIPS Klue, the debris that had once been blocking the way forward will disappear, granting access to the nearby chest. Inside, players will find Kenshi’s Chilled Swordsman skin, a Rare konsumable, and 250 Seasonal Kredits. The former can be equipped in the Kustomize menu, while the latter can be used to purchase limited-time cosmetics from the seasonal store. Players should hurry up and spend them, though, as Seasonal Kredits will expire once the Season of the Cryomancer comes to an end in February.
