Soulmask: How to Beat The Saber-Toothed Predator Boss

Soulmask isn’t known for being a difficult game. It focuses a lot on the survival and management aspects, but there is plenty of love given to the combat side of things. To make any particular virtue shine through, the rest of the qualities have to be good as well.

The Saber-Toothed Predator is pretty much the first boss the players will have to fight. It challenges the player and makes them collect a variety of materials before even starting the fight. Here’s everything players need to know to beat the Saber-Toothed Predator boss.

Where To Find the Saber-Toothed Predator in Soulmask

The Saber-Toothed Predator is located near the Pyramid structure found on the map. The pyramid can be found in the northeast corner of the playable area, with the icon visible no matter where the player is story-wise. It rewards players with a variety of necessities, such as Blue Crystals and Sunstones (Enough Energy), and unlocks an upgrade in the Mask upgrade tree (Data Update 1).

If the player cannot see the icon, it can be toggled on and off with an option at the top of the screen called “Show Exploration Points,” which shows points of interest on the map that the player should visit.

Once players find the pyramid, they will notice a large field outside the main entrance with a circular fenced arena that contains an altar in the middle. Serving up the required materials at said altar will start a fight with the Saber-Toothed Predator.

Where To Find Required Materials to Fight the Saber-Toothed Predator in Soulmask

Players need the following materials to start the Sabertooth boss fight:

• Premium Fresh Meat x5
• Beast Bone x5
• Beast Blood x5
• Worship Container x1

Beast Blood and Beast Bones can be found by harvesting the corpse of any animal that the players hunt. However, Premium Fresh Meat and Worship Containers are more difficult to secure.

Worship Containers can drop from the death boxes of Tribe Leaders or the associated chests found in Tribe Barracks. Meanwhile, players need to hunt a high-tier beast to get Premium Fresh Meat. These are Jaguars, Leopards, Crocodiles, and Pythons in the early sections of the game.

The easiest bet is to hunt for Giant Crocodiles in the river south of the large pyramid where the Saber-Toothed Predator altar is located. If players come across an animal lair on their journey, they can hunt the animal it belongs to for a guaranteed drop of Premium Meat. This river also has a large number of Clay resource nodes scattered around it.

Players won’t always get premium meat from the mentioned animals, but there is a
certain chance
that they drop it.

How To Beat the Saber-Toothed Predator in Soulmask

Beating the first boss in Soulmask is a tough endeavor, but one that players must undertake to progress their journey. Once summoned, the Saber-Toothed Predator doesn’t leave until killed, so don’t worry about not having enough materials.

Before initiating the boss fight, players should make sure to create a bonfire as close to the boss as possible to make a respawn point relatively close to the boss.

Here are some tips to help players get through the first tier of the Saber-Toothed Predator boss fight.

• Use a mix of ranged and melee weaponry. Use a bow and throwable weapons to deal damage to the boss initially. When the boss gets staggered, the player should rush in and use a melee weapon to deal a large amount of damage.
• Wait until Awareness Level 20 to challenge the boss.
• Players should use Leather Armor to maximize the amount of punishment they can endure. Try to craft multiple armor sets to attempt to get a higher tier armor.
• Use Bone Beast Weapons to deal as much damage to the tiger as possible.
• Attacks from this boss deal bleeding damage. Players should eat food or use medicine when hit, so they don’t bleed out when the monster isn’t even attacking them.
• Learn the attack pattern of the boss and dodge the attacks as often as possible.
  • The Saber-Toothed Predator will lunge at the player, wait a beat, and then attack them. Don’t try to dodge the initial lunge. Rather, aim to dodge the attack after the lunge.
• Players should allocate Stat Points according to the weapons that they will use.

Rewards For Beating the Saber-Toothed Predator in Soulmask

Depending on the difficulty of the server players are on, they will get different amounts of material dropped from butchering the boss. Players will receive eight different items from the boss:

• Sunstone (Enough Energy): Gives the player 500 Mask Energy when used. Also used to unlock certain skills.
• Saber-Toothed Predator Key: Opens artifacts in designated ruins.
• Saber-Toothed Predator Mark: Opens the gate of the pyramid
• Bleeding Mod 3: Adds a chance to deal 10 bleeding damage to weapon when assigned to it.
• Green Crystals:Used to unlock Mask Nodes.
• Blue Crystals: Used to unlock Mask Nodes.

Inside the pyramid, players will get the following loot from the three chests present within the structure:

• Green Crystals
• Sunstone (Enough Energy)
• Mysterious Device – Rainforest Pyramid

After looting the place, use the resources acquired by killing the boss to obtain Data Update 1 from the ancient artifact in the middle of the pyramid.
