New research has revealed the most fun cities in Europe, with London out-partying 50 of Europe’s most lively destinations. The study from casino content provider, SlotMatrix, analysed 50 top European locations against seven different factors to uncover the most fun destinations for a casino-fuelled city break.
The study assessed seven key metrics including the number of casinos, casino hotels and restaurants, while also taking into account the total number of games available per casino. The study also factored in the number of pubs and bars listed on Tripadvisor for each city, the average price of a weekend hotel stay per night on Kayak, and the interest online for casino-related Google searches in each destination since 2022.
The findings revealed that London is the most fun city in Europe, with an overall score of 90.3 out of 100. The UK capital delivers fun on the casino front, with 51 casinos, six casino hotels, and 52 casino restaurants, that deliver 1,533 games per casino, meaning London rivals even the most elaborate gaming venues in the world.
Not to mention London’s unmatched nightlife, with the most pubs and bars in the study, at 642 listed on Tripadvisor. Its continued year-on-year growth is reflected in online behaviour, with a 73.4 per cent increase in casino-related searches since 2022. While the average hotel price in London sits at £238 per night, visitors are paying for premium variety, scale, and 24/7 energy, making London a worthy European Sin City.

Bucharest ranks as the second most fun city in Europe, with a score of 81.4 out of 100. Romania’s capital offers a whopping 163 casinos to choose from – more than any other European city analysed in the study. With an average hotel price of just £93 per night and 93 pubs and bars to choose from, it’s no wonder that Bucharest has seen a 414 per cent surge in Google searches over the last three years.
Prague ranks in third place, with a score of 74 out of 100. The Czech capital is home to 40 casinos, six casino hotels, and 29 casino restaurants, averaging 920 games per casino. The thriving gaming scene is also accompanied by an impressive nightlife scene that features 262 pubs and bars and an average hotel price of £137 per night.
Riga has been named the fourth most fun city in Europe, with a score of 66.7 out of 100. The Latvian capital boasts 35 casinos, five casino hotels, and 836 games per venue, making it a popular destination for gaming enthusiasts. Although smaller in size, Riga’s appeal is growing fast, with a 122.6 per cent increase in casino-related Google searches since 2022, coupled with modest hotel prices averaging £84 per night. Riga offers a top-tier casino getaway for travellers seeking excitement without breaking the bank.
Amsterdam ranks fifth in the study, with a score of 61.4 out of 100. The Dutch capital is one of Europe’s most iconic cities, and despite having just 16 casinos, it makes up for it with the most games per casino in the study, at an impressive 1,810. The city also features one casino hotel, 13 casino restaurants, and 139 pubs and bars.
Commenting on the study, a SlotMatrix spokesperson said:
“This study highlights just how packed Europe is with cities that know how to have fun, but London stands out for offering the full package. The English capital has world-class casinos, unbeatable nightlife, and a scale of entertainment that only a few places in the world can rival.”
“It’s incredibly exciting to see the huge momentum across Europe, with cities like Bucharest and Prague emerging as popular, great-value hotspots for gaming and nightlife lovers. Whether you’re after luxury, late nights, or sheer variety, the casino scene both in the UK and across Europe is thriving, which makes these cities even more fun destinations for stag and hen do style holidays.”
