Spook Fish are one of the more profitable fish to catch in Stardew Valley. However, they are only available to catch in the game within a span of 3 days, disappearing for the rest. When this fish becomes available for catching, it’s a good idea to stock up on as many as possible to increase profits.
If you’re on the lookout for this fish to get a good bit of money or want to add it to a Fish Pond, this guide will show you exactly where and how you can find it. Stardew Valley players will need to make sure they are in or near the Winter season to find it.
Stardew Valley: How to Grow Garlic
Garlic is a cheap and useful crop in Stardew Valley, but you won’t get easy access to it at first.
How to Catch a Spook Fish in Stardew Valley
First, in order to find and catch a Spook Fish, you’ll need to make sure you are in the Winter season. This is the only time this fish can be caught unless you use Magic Bait and fish in the southwestern area of the beach. Make sure to fish out onto the beach facing west to find a Spook Fish here.
Outside of using Magic Bait, Spook Fish can be found in the deep sea submarine during the Night Market. The Night Market occurs on the 15th to 17th days of Winter and starts at 5 pm. Make sure to get on the submarine before 11 pm, as it will close around that time. However, if you’ve already gotten on the ride, it’ll stay open until 2 am.
To find the submarine, head over to the left of the Night Market, and you’ll find it in the corner next to the Desert Trader. To have the Captain take you to the deep sea, you’ll need to pay 1,000g. There are many different items and fish you can catch here, including:
- Blobfish
- Midnight Squid
- Octopus
- Pearl
- Sea Cucumber
- Seaweed
- Spook Fish
- Super Cucumber
Your chances of catching a Spook Fish are about 16 percent. However, if you add the Curiosity Lure to your fishing pole, it will increase to 18 percent. It isn’t incredibly uncommon, so you’re bound to catch a few if you stay at it for a little while. It’s also a good idea to bring along some bait to make the process faster.
Remember you only have three nights at the Night Market to catch a Spook Fish in the submarine. Use this time wisely.
Stardew Valley: How to Get Ruby
Rubies can be used for more than just making a profit in Stardew Valley. Use this guide to easily locate this valuable gem.
How to Use a Spook Fish in Stardew Valley
Spook Fish have a few different uses, with the most obvious being selling it for some money. At its base, you can get around 220g for it, while an Iridium-quality Spook Fish sold by someone with the Angler profession can get 660g for it.
You can also use Spook Fish in a few recipes, but we mostly recommend using it for a Fish Pond. When you place a Spook Fish in a Fish Pond, there’s a chance for it to produce some Roe, as well as Treasure Chests. This is a great way to get a few rewards sporadically within your own farm. You’ll need to make sure the population of your Fish Pond has reached 9 to 10; otherwise, it will only have the ability to produce Roe.
