Grenade launchers are great for clearing mobs of enemies, and when it comes to destroying as many targets as possible without spending too much ammunition, the Hullabaloo should be the weapon that comes to players’ minds. It was introduced in Destiny 2’s 7.3.5 patch, where it quickly found its place in the PvE sandbox.

Hullabaloo is one of the few Compressed Wave Frame GLs in Destiny 2, and it’s the second one to be added next to the Dimensional Hypotrochoid, a weapon from the Lightfall expansion. Unlike the latter, Hullabaloo has a lot more things going for it that make the weapon stand out from the crowd. Here are a number of potential god rolls you should be looking out for whenever this weapon drops.

As a heavy wave frame grenade launcher, Hullabaloo will likely see use in target-rich environments. Compared to other heavy grenade launchers, it doesn’t quite hit as hard against bigger targets or Destiny 2 bosses like Hefnd’s Vengeance, but it can delete plenty of weaker enemies in just a single shot.

Hullabaloo owes much of its AOE potential to Voltshot and Chain Reaction. Every time it kills an enemy, it will set off a chain of explosions that will damage and defeat even more targets. Reload the weapon afterward to make the next shot inflict Jolt, giving the weapon even more add-clearing power. Pair both of these perks with Volatile Launch and High Velocity Rounds to make your grenades fly straight and true without compromising on blast radius.

While it’s true that Voltshot works best when the weapon is constantly reloaded, such is not the case with Hullabaloo. In this context, Voltshot is best used against tankier targets like Majors, Bosses, and Champions — those that won’t die in a single hit. Jolting these targets turns them into walking tesla coils that shock all nearby targets, letting players deal damage to priority targets while also clearing chaff around them.

Auto-Loading Holster is a great perk for all heavy weapons, and Golden Tricorn can give Hullabaloo 50% more damage per shot when fully-stacked, making it hit incredibly hard. If you don’t get a Voltshot/Chain Reaction roll, try to at least get one of these perks on your grenade launcher insteads.

As for PvP, the perk roll for your Hullabaloo shouldn’t matter much. Heavy grenade launchers will kill Guardians in one shot regardless of what perk you’re using, so you might as well get perks that make the weapon more consistent. Impulse Amplifier greatly improves the weapon’s projectile velocity, making moving targets easier to hit. Meanwhile, Chain Reaction can help you conserve ammo by taking down other Guardians that might be close to targets that you defeat.

The Hullabaloo is the featured weapon of the 2024 Guardian Games. As such, players will only be able to acquire it once the event is active, and only by getting rewards from activities related to the event itself. To get one, you can either:

  • Deposit Medals in the Tower
  • Play Guardian Games Playlist matches

You’ll be able to get plenty of Hullabaloos if you play Destiny 2 regularly, but if you really want to get as many copies as possible, including copies of other guns like the Taraxippos, then you best focus your playtime on Guardian Games activities.
